The business
Capex links oil and gas resources with processing and power generation. This integration connects feedstock with several commercial uses, but each stage has its own costs and investment needs. Liquids and electricity are distinct products with different buyers and marketing terms.
An energy company active in hydrocarbons, power generation, gas processing and renewable projects.
Capex combines hydrocarbon extraction and processing with electricity production. The connection between energy resources and industrial facilities is central to understanding its activities.
Capex links oil and gas resources with processing and power generation. This integration connects feedstock with several commercial uses, but each stage has its own costs and investment needs. Liquids and electricity are distinct products with different buyers and marketing terms.
What shapes business performance
Field output, industrial availability and product prices need separate analysis. Higher extraction does not ensure more cash if it requires additional drilling or expansion. Renewable investment adds exposure to natural resources and sales contracts, different from a thermal plant’s fuel economics.
Capex extracts oil and gas within an integrated energy model. At Agua del Cajón, the link between the field, processing and generation traces gas from underground resources to industrial use, alongside hydrocarbon sales.
Who it serves
Refineries, processors and buyers of oil and gas.
How the business works
Exploration identifies resources; development turns them into production. Hydrocarbon sales must support operating costs and investment in wells and infrastructure.
Capex generates electricity at the Agua del Cajón thermal plant, linked to its gas chain. Fuel processing and combined-cycle operation connect hydrocarbon production with electricity sales to the Argentine power system.
Who it serves
The electricity system and energy buyers, including large users under contracts.
How the business works
Power plants convert an energy source into electricity. Depending on each asset’s framework, remuneration may reflect delivered energy, available capacity and contract terms.
Capex’s liquids business separates marketable components from gas through its subsidiary’s LPG plant. This stage extracts additional products from the resource and leaves processed gas that can continue into electricity generation.
Who it serves
Industries and distributors using fuels, chemicals or processed inputs.
How the business works
Industrial processing converts raw material into marketable products. Margins depend on selling prices relative to feedstock, energy and processing costs.
Capex’s renewable projects broaden a portfolio that also includes oil, gas and thermal generation. Wind power adds a source requiring no fuel during generation, while depending on available wind and equipment performance.
The business in practice
Selected products, companies and assets from corporate publications.
Production across two basins
Capex produces oil and gas in the Neuquén and Golfo San Jorge basins. Its catalogue includes Agua del Cajón, Loma Negra and La Yesera, alongside Pampa del Castillo and Bella Vista Oeste. Interests and operating terms differ by area.
The Agua del Cajón combined-cycle plant in Neuquén uses gas from Capex’s own reserves. Its electrical connection delivers power to Argentina’s interconnected system. Extraction and generation are therefore linked stages within the group.
Servicios Buproneu separates propane, butane and stabilised gasoline before sending dry gas to the power plant. Propane and butane are sold separately; gasoline is blended with crude for sale. One gas stream supplies both fuel and marketable products.
The renewable portfolio combines the Diadema and Diadema II wind farms in Chubut with La Salvación solar park in San Luis. Hychico also produces hydrogen and oxygen through electrolysis; the process includes using hydrogen blended with natural gas to generate electricity.
