The business
Aluar receives alumina and anode materials, uses electrolysis to produce liquid aluminium and casts industrial formats. Rolling and extrusion add processing for specific applications. Customers buy metal with defined dimensions and properties; energy assets are linked to an electricity-intensive production process.
A primary and fabricated aluminium producer integrated with energy assets and industrial businesses.
Aluar connects primary aluminium production with fabricated products and power generation. Electricity is a major input in electrolysis, so energy integration helps explain the group’s industrial structure.
Aluar receives alumina and anode materials, uses electrolysis to produce liquid aluminium and casts industrial formats. Rolling and extrusion add processing for specific applications. Customers buy metal with defined dimensions and properties; energy assets are linked to an electricity-intensive production process.
What shapes business performance
Aluminium prices, product premiums and alumina and energy costs affect margins. Production continuity matters because not all costs decline with output. Tonnes sold, fabricated-product mix, inventories and cash needed for maintenance and investment should be considered separately.
Aluar produces primary aluminium through electrolysis and casts it into formats including ingots, slabs, billets and wire rod. Fabrication adds rolling and extrusion to create products for other industries.
Who it serves
Industrial customers, distributors and buyers of finished products.
How the business works
The business turns inputs into products with defined specifications. It combines production, quality control and sales; volumes and unit costs help explain its performance.
Aluar’s power generation supports aluminium production with continuous electricity needs. Its integration includes thermal and hydroelectric assets, making power a strategic industrial input as well as an energy activity.
Who it serves
The group’s aluminium production and energy buyers under supply arrangements.
How the business works
Energy integration supplies a continuously operating industrial process. Analysis combines generation costs, aluminium plant requirements and energy sales arrangements.
The Aluar wind farm near Puerto Madryn brings wind power into the group’s industrial structure. Renewable output serves self-consumption and energy sales, connecting Patagonia’s wind resource with the electricity needs of aluminium production.
How the business works
Power plants convert an energy source into electricity. Depending on each asset’s framework, remuneration may reflect delivered energy, available capacity and contract terms.
The business in practice
Selected products, companies and assets from corporate publications.
Puerto Madryn and Abasto
Puerto Madryn centres on primary aluminium. In Abasto, Buenos Aires, the fabricated-products division extends the range with rolled and extruded products. Producing metal and shaping it for industrial use are separate stages.
Electrolysis converts alumina into liquid aluminium, which is then cast into commercial forms. Rolling reduces slab thickness; extrusion pushes billets through dies to create profiles.
Aluar’s energy mix combines Futaleufú, thermal generation in Puerto Madryn and its wind farm. Power supports electrolysis; solar and storage projects are presented separately from existing installations.
Aluar’s billets feed extrusion and its slabs feed rolling. Wire rod serves electrical conductors, while alloy ingots are used to cast parts, particularly automotive components. Foil supplies packaging and insulation. The metal therefore reaches different industrial value chains in different commercial formats.
Aluar’s architectural range includes window and integrated façade systems as well as industrial profiles. It addresses architects, builders and developers. This specialisation adds system design and applications to the metal; it does not make Aluar the owner of buildings that use its products.
