The business in practice

- What Caja de Valores does
Caja de Valores records securities in investors’ names through depositor accounts. It also handles transfers, dividends and other corporate events. Maintaining these records does not make BYMA the owner of securities in custody.

Its place in Bolsas y Mercados Argentinos
BYMA is part of the infrastructure enabling Argentina’s market: it connects trading with post-trade services, custody and information. Its business differs from that of an intermediary making investment decisions on a customer’s behalf.

Customers, operations & revenue
BYMA connects intermediaries and issuers through trading and post-trade services. Caja de Valores handles custody, records and corporate events, while information products make market data available. A transaction creates separate execution, settlement and recordkeeping needs; its traded value is not itself BYMA revenue.
What shapes business performance
Trading, assets in custody and use of information services are different business drivers. Operating fees should be distinguished from returns on the company’s own investments. System availability, security, regulation and technology spending shape delivery; more transactions do not imply an equal increase in profit.
